BTCUSD Weekly Analysis (May week 01) – Range Break Incoming or More Rejection at 79K?
BTCUSD analysis today reviews last week’s choppy range and what to expect in the first week of May as price trades just below key resistance. Here’s my take on structure, levels, and likely scenarios.
PAIR: BTCUSD
RECENT CONTEXT (LAST WEEK)
Last week was not clean at all.
We started strong price pushed up into 79K again.
But every time it got there… rejection.
You can literally see it spikes up, then quick drops.
No follow-through.
Mid-week, sellers took control for a bit.
Sharp drop toward 75K area. That was the cleanest move of the week.
But again… no continuation.
Buyers stepped back in and pushed price right back up.
So overall?
Messy range. No real direction.

CURRENT PRICE AREA
Now we’re back around 77.8K–78K.
Same story sitting just under resistance, not breaking… but not collapsing either.
Market is compressing.
KEY ZONES
Resistance:
78.8K–79.5K → strong rejection zone (tested multiple times)
80K → major liquidity level
Support:
76K → intraday support, price keeps reacting here
74.8K–75K → last strong downside reaction
WHAT I’M SEEING (REAL THINKING)
This is classic range behavior before a move.
Both sides tried last week:
- Buyers couldn’t break highs
- Sellers couldn’t hold lows
That usually means one thing… buildup.
Also noticing:
Highs are getting weaker. Not explosive.
That’s something to keep in mind.
MY BIAS (FIRST WEEK OF MAY)
Leaning slightly bearish below 79.5K.
Not aggressive because range is still intact.
But I’m not trusting upside until 80K is clearly broken.
INVALIDATION
If price breaks and holds above 80K with strength,
then bias flips that becomes continuation.
TRADE SCENARIOS
Scenario 1 (Preferred – Rejection Again):
If price pushes back into 79K–79.5K early in the week and fails again,
I expect a move back toward 76K… maybe even a sweep of 75K.
That would complete the range cycle.
Scenario 2 (Breakout Week):
If price finally breaks above 79.5K–80K and holds,
then we could see expansion toward 81K–82K quickly.
Range → breakout → fast move.
WHY THIS WEEK MATTERS
This is not just another week.
Last week built the range.
This week likely breaks it.
Also, new month = fresh liquidity.
That usually brings volatility.
FINAL THOUGHT
I’m treating this as a waiting game.
No trades in the middle.
Only at extremes.
Either:
- rejection at the top → short
or - clean breakout → long
Right now, price is just teasing both sides.
